Meet Patrice

artist and theologian specializing in messages of healing and hope

Patrice Gerideau creates and serves at the intersection of life, faith and the arts. She has been published in The Pitkin Review. She has written two one-woman plays, Thank You for Staring, which debuted at the Capital Fringe Festival and went on to festivals in Scotland, New York City, and Atlanta. Her second play, Jane Doe, was chosen to appear at the 2020 Capital Fringe Festival. 

Patrice is the founder and creative director of Writing Women of God, which is focused on helping women tell their stories on the page and on the stage. She is also the author of the weekly devotional, Love Speaks Daily. 

Patrice trained at the Honors Acting Conservatory of the Theatre Lab School of Dramatic Arts. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Goddard College, a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a Master of Sacred Theology from Drew University. Patrice earned two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and psychology from the University of Georgia. 

Patrice is the recipient of the 2020 Frederick Buechner Prize for Excellence in Writing, the 2017 Margaret Pittman Award in Urban Ministry and the 2017 Laurence Hull Stookey Award for Outstanding Leadership in Liturgy and Worship. Prior to answering her call as an artist and theologian, Patrice spent over 15 years in the non-profit sector in the areas of communications, training, and administration. The South Carolina native is a proud Gullah/Geechee girl who has been writing since sixth grade and currently lives in Washington, DC.
